Biography


Sasha Alexander was born as Suzana Drobnjakovic in May 17, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Sasha's parents are Serbian (mother) and talian (father). Her stage name "Sasha Alexander" originate from the childhood nickname Sasha and her brother's name Alexander.
Sasha once wanted to be an professional ice skater but due to an injury she had to give up her dream. With fourteen she joined a pop music group called "Everything nice" and remained with it for a year.
Sasha's acting career began in the seventh grade when she found herself cast as the lead female in her school's production of "Baby." What she didn't know was that her male costar would chicken out on her only a few hours before opening night. Embarrassed about playing a man, but determined to let the show go on, Sasha used her comedic skills and threw herself into the role. The audience response was overwhelmingly enthusiastic, and an actress was born.
Sasha continued acting in high school and college plays. Throughout high school and college, she traveled east to New York from her native Los Angeles to perform in summer stock and Shakespeare Festival productions. The portrayal of Katherine in "The Taming of the Shrew" earned her the honor of studying in London with Cicely Barry and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Sasha graduated from USC's prestigious School of Cinema & Television, where she studied directing in an effort to hone behind-the-camera skills. Although acting is Sasha's first love, since college she was also interested in directing movies and wanted to expand her knowledge of filmmaking.
In 1997 she landed her first movie role as Karen Chambers in the short Sci-Fi movie Visceral Matter. The same year she worked in the five minute comedy film called Battle of the Sexes and the Drama Supply & Demand. In 1999, Sasha got her first TV starring role as Jesse Presser on ABC'S drama show Wasteland produced by Kevin Williamson who also created Dawson's Creek. The same year she was seen in Sony Classics' "Twin Falls Idaho". Two years later Sasha completed work on "Lucky 13," a independent comedy which she co-wrote, produced and stars in with Harland Williams and Lauren Graham.
She also got the guest role as Pacey's sister Gretchen and Dawson's love interest in WBs enormously successful dramatic series Dawson's Creek in season 4. Additional to it Sasha landed a leading role in the successful romance/comedy All Over the Guy where she and co-star Adam Goldberg portrayed a straight funny couple.
In 2002 she became a regular as Dr. Jackie Collette in CBS's medical drama Presidio Med. Though the series didn't last long on network television, it has had success in syndication.
A year later Sasha became star alongside Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly in CBS's successful action drama show Navy CIS (NCIS). The role of Special Agent Caitlin "Kate" Todd was Sasha's international breakthrough. As Kate Sasha became known globally and captured a lot of hearts. As Sasha decided to leave the show in 2005 fan's react with indignation and desperation because of the sudden awful death of her alter ego Kate in end of season two.
In meantime fans accept Sasha's choice of leaving the show and look forward to see her in other roles.
In addition to her film and television talents Sasha's loves to dance, travel and beeing outside.
